The research activities of the Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute (VINATOM) during the period from 1 January to 31 December 2012 are presented in this Report. The research activities are focused on the following fields:
1. Nuclear Physics, Reactor Physics;
2. Research Reactor, Nuclaer Power Technology, Nuclear Safety, Nuclear Power Economy;
3. Instrumentation, Nuclear Electronics;
4. Industrial Applications;
5. Applications in Ecology, Environment and Geology;
6. Applications in Biology, Agriculture and Medicine;
7. Radiation Protection and Radioactive Waste Management;
8. Radiation Technology;
9. Radiochemistry and Materials Science;
10. Computation and Other Related Topics.
The total number of permanent staff working at the VINATOM as December 31, 2012 is 802 including the clerical service staff. The VINATOM was funded from the Government with the amount to 151.733 billion VN Dong for FY 2012. The international support of 800,000 EUR and 600,000 USD for the VINATOM activities is committed to the operating projects including equipment, staff training and expert services (6 VIE projects, 10 FNCA projects, 26 RAS projects and 19 research contracts with the IAEA).
Main results of fundamental and applied research implemented in the year were presented in 118 scientific articles, reports and contributions published in many journals, proceedings of conferences, etc.
During the time of year 2012, in the VINATOM there were 3 to be graduated in Ph.D. courses; about 175 people have been trained abroad in the fields of nuclear science and technology.
